Recently our team performed several Smallworld Electric Office and FME related services for one of the largest distribution system operator in Turkey. One of the result was streamlining data export from Smallworld using FME.
Our involvement began with onsite FME user training in Turkey.
In the next step our team conducted Electric Office and FME implementation analysis and identified possible opportunities to streamline the overall performance of the system.
The analysis covered:
- Network architecture
- Hardware
- Additional software installed on servers and workstations and its influence on system’s security level
- Access control on Windows/Unix files level
- Access control on database server level
- Access control on application level
Based on the collected information we’ve prepared improvement suggestions and plan of recommended actions aimed at improving overall security of the system.
After reviewing our report the customer decided to implement all recommendations developed by our team.
In the final step we’ve implemented suggested improvements. As a result, time needed to export data from Smallworld was shorten and the level of security of the system was increased. Our team also installed Microsoft Windows Dynamic Cache Service and thanks to that improved system performance.
